Story
Hi all,
I along with 19 other graduates working for Vodafone have decided to brave the skies and jump 10,000ft to raise both money and awareness for Dementia UK. I believe the technical term for how I'm feeling at the moment is "bricking it", but I'm more than up for the challenge knowing that I'm backing such a worthwhile and important cause.
Dementia affects 47.5 million people worldwide without discrimination as to whom suffers. It is not a disease, and so no cure exists. That means that those who are diagnosed with dementia are often left to tackle it day-by-day, as best they can. It is anticipated that the cost for caring for those with dementia could reach $1 trillion by 2030.
Experiences such as skydiving should be remembered forever, yet of those suffering with dementia over 60% are cases of Alzheimer’s and so are stripped of this privilege as a result of memory loss, with other symptoms existing that include personality changes and issues with language, communication, and thinking that can hugely impact the quality of a person’s life and that of their loved ones, too.
I want to help this fantastic cause by pushing my own boundaries to the limits and raising as much awareness and money as I can in doing so.
Please help me support this cause by donating to my JustGiving page or by text message by texting my unique code and the amount you wish to donate from £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070:
e.g. DMUK59 £5
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
