Story

At Birmingham Childrens Hospital Charity, we believe theres always more we can do for our sick kids and thats why we will always strive to do more for our patients and families. Its our mission to raise the vital funds needed to make a real difference to all who use our hospital.

On Friday 8th May Zane woke up and told his Mom and myself he was going to run a marathon. Now, not one to ever tell him he can't achieve anything he sets his mind to, I am aware it's a fairly big ask for a 10 year old in lockdown. Anyone who knows Zane will understand he's not afraid of a challenge. We managed to convince him to attempt this feat over the bank holiday weekend. So, Zane will be running 26 miles broken down in segments. He will average circa 9 miles per day which is quite an effort for his age, well any age. We decided to wait until he started and understood the enormity of what he was attempting. He now knows but is still committed 😀 Completely of his own undertaking, he also said be wanted to raise money for the same charity that was the one people supported to remember Tom. If you can help Zane, even a pound would mean the world to him. Thank you for reading. Zane Skinner 10 years 3 months and slightly bonkers.

About the charity

It's bewildering and unsettling for anyone going into hospital but especially for children and that is why we are a fundraising hospital. We raise funds to enhance the experience of our patients by providing state of the art medical equipment and facilities and creating a child-friendly environment.
