The 1000 Flat Burpee Challenge, 18 December 2021
We raise funds for adult cancer patients to improve their mental and physical health

Story

On Saturday the 18th December at 11am, Tom Roach and Sam Beaney will take on the epic challenge of 1000 flat burpee each till completion in under 2hrs at the Tenterden Boxing Club.

Why? We are both passionate about the charity RAGE IV and fitness for life. Tom and Sammy Beaney will be doing 1000 flat burpees to raise money for the outstanding charity Rage IV. A charity close to all of our hearts, every family has experience of cancer in one form or another. I lost my Mother and Sister to it and its affected my youngest sister and nieces.

How can you support us? So you can support us on Just Giving, or if you want to get involved and do some flat burpee with us at a cost of £10 entrance fee. If you want to come along to support us and watch us live at the club its a £5 entrance fee. All monies go direct to RAGE IV we can assure you of that much.

'Rage IV' is a new charity that aims to award adult cancer patients with grants that allow them 12 month memberships within their local gym or fitness/ sports club within their first year of diagnosis.

So, here's a little back story about us and why this charity has come to be. Back in 2018, our founder Danielle Hambridge was diagnosed with stage IV incurable breast cancer at the age of 29. Whilst Danielle was going through treatment she tried to maintain a good level of fitness by continuing to exercise even on the days where she had a large dose of chemotherapy running through her system. Danielle was adamant that maintaining a healthy lifestyle kept her mind and body strong; remarkably Danielle has remained in a remission for the past 2 years even after hearing that she might only have 6 months to live. Danielle decided that it would be a great idea to promote healthy, active living during cancer treatment by encouraging other patients to do the same. She understands that the cost of gym memberships and fitness clubs can be quite high especially if patients have to take reduced hours at work or leave employment altogether to focus on their health. Hence the birth of Rage IV; a charity that allows cancer patients to focus on their mental and physical wellbeing without worrying about the cost.

Here at Rage IV we're pushing through the pain and raging for freedom, time and life in the face of cancer.
