On the 10th February 2022, my friend Charley-Lee was cruelly taken from us; she will be #forever27. She is missed, so much, everyday, by her family and her friends.

Charley was a beacon of light to all that knew her; she was fun, energetic, always had a smile on her face and made everyone around her laugh and smile too.

I met Charley many years ago through playing Mixed Netball on Thursday and Sunday nights; she was my defensive partner, in a defensive trio, with her Mum, Tina. She will always be remembered, by everyone, for her very unique, distinctive, split leg star-jumps that just made her, her; I miss her all the time, even more so on game night.

During Charley's short illness, she received exceptional care from the ICU team at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester and, after speaking with Charley's family, they asked if I could raise money for their ICU department, as a thank you for the loving care and treatment they gave to her.

So, for 2023, I will be doing loads of different events to fundraise for Glenfield Hospital, all via the Leicester Hospitals Charity, with the money I raise, through your generous donations, specifically going to support patients in the ICU requiring ECMO treatment, something they provided Charley with, whilst she was there.

Just to explain, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is where blood is pumped outside of your body, through a heart-lung machine which removes the carbon dioxide, oxygenates the blood and pumps it back into your body.

Glenfield Hospital is one of the worlds busiest ECMO centres and is the only hospital in the UK that provides ECMO treatment to both adults and children.
