I have decided that during this 4 week lockdown period, I will be attempting to raise money for Leeds Mind by running 5k a day for 28 days.
For the past 4 years, I have suffered with severe depression and anxiety and it has affected me massively in this time. It has affected my life in ways I couldn't imagine. And with the second lockdown looming I know just how difficult it will be for people who, like me, struggle with mental health issues daily. I am blessed that I have an amazing support group of friends and family that I can now speak to confidently about this, and I honestly do not know where I would be without them. But some people don't have this, some people don't have friends or family to speak to, or just don't want to speak to people close to them regarding the struggles they are going through. This is where Leeds Mind come in.
Leeds Mind support people to recover from poor periods of mental health and help them live life independently with their mental health conditions. The offer services such as counselling, group therapy, social support, peer support and mental health training (plus many more).
I hope to raise money so that they can keep offering this amazing support to people who need it right now. 1 in 4 of us will experience mental health difficulties at some point in their lives, and Leeds Mind are there to help.
I appreciate it is a tough time right now, but even the smallest of donations would help massively!
As cliche as it sounds, we may not be in the same boat but we are in the same storm. If anyone is ever struggling with anything and wants to talk about anything, please feel free to message me.
Wish me luck, and I'll keep the page updated with each run I do!
