Story
In 2017 I was diagnosed with mouth cancer and underwent a 10 hour operation to replace the hard and soft palette in my mouth followed by time in intensive care and weeks of rehab learning to eat normal foods again.
In 2019 my dad was diagnosed with blood cancer and spent time at Lingen Davies receiving chemotherapy, he still attends now although less frequently.
I would consider myself and my dad healthy males so, maybe naively, I never imagined cancer would impact either of our lives.... it did, so to have a service like Lingen Davies in our hometown is incredible, it's one less worry when your dealing with all the other information, tests and adjustments that come with a cancer diagnosis.
Lingen Davies is entirely funded by donations, the staff that greet you at reception, the staff that support you through chemo and radiotherapy and the domestics that make your visit as comfortable as it can be - they are all paid for through charitable donations.
This service absolutely has to remain local, it is there to support the people of shropshire should you or someone you know ever need it, like myself and my dad did.
In 2022 I reached 5 years cancer free which is a milestone many people don't reach, I'm aiming to raise £2022 for Lingen Davies as a thankyou for all they've done for me and my dad... any small donation to help me achieve that goal I would be incredibly grateful for.
Thankyou in advance and il keep you all updated on my London Marathon training! 🏃♂️💙💛
