Story
It will be very much appreciated, if you can support me in my sponsored bike ride, this May bank holiday weekend, from London to Amsterdam, to help raise funds for the expansion of my son’s school library.
We hope to be able to raise enough money to fund the expansion of the wonderful school library, including moving it to a bigger classroom and stocking it with lots of wonderful new books and magazines.
The Friday, of May Day, bank holiday weekend, (tomorrow, ) at 9am, we will be leaving
from my son’s school playground in Blackheath, (the children will be waving us off) and heading up the Lee Valley to Harwich via Colchester. This will be circa 100 miles on the first day!!!! From Harwich, we will be getting the overnight ferry to the Hook of Holland.
Then on day 2, we will just have the 65 miles riding into Amsterdam City Centre, hopefully before the sun sets.
Why this is a challenge for me, is when I was working in Central London, I was able to commute into the office on my bike & train for long bike rides that way, but since Covid, I’ve hardly been on my bike, (apart from pottering around Blackheath with my son) and on Sunday just gone, I thought I had better get on my bike and I rode 40 miles. 40% of what I’ve got to ride tomorrow & I was absolutely shattered and didn’t know how I could ride any more than that…………… except for you guys, if can sponsor me and then I will be able to do it, knowing your support will keep me going to the end.
