Race to the King · 23 June 2018 to 24 June 2018 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Jo, Dan and Tom are running the Race to the King, a 53 mile 'ultra marathon' over the weekend of the 23rd/24th June 2018.  The route follows the South Downs Way from Arundel and finishes in our home town of Winchester.

It will be an ordeal, but we are training with a really meaningful focus in our hearts and minds.

In 2012, Dan and Tom were inspired by our good friend Ali Speirs - poet, wit, Reading fan and long term Parkinson's battler - to raise funds for PUK and run The London Marathon. We raised over £6000 with the fabulous support of our community. Since then, Tom's father in law Ken Thomas has received a Parkinson's diagnosis, and is engaging in the fight too. Indeed, we don't have to look too far in our village to find further sufferers of this cruel disease.

We are doing this for Ali and Ken. Their courage, love of life, friendship and positive energy has inspire us to take on this challenge and again draw in much needed research and treatment support funds for this superb charity. But we are also doing this for anyone else you may know who is facing the struggle of Parkinson's.

Please help us by sponsoring this challenge; we will be organising a central fundraising event soon, but in the meantime thank you for taking time to consider supporting us!
