Story
I am taking part in the Brain Tumour Research Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on Saturday 3rd June 2023. In September 2021, my dear Mum fell ill and had an emergency operation to save her life. The operation was a success but what was found has since changed the course of her life and the shock has rippled through family and close friends. With friends having already raised awareness of Terminal Brain Tumours it is now my turn. My Mum is a very special person having cared for many people during her Nursing career and I would like to follow in her example. With all my strength I will be taking on this challenge to bring awareness and raise funds to help fight this cruel disease. This will give the opportunity for future families to live one day in a world where Brain Tumours are curable and better still non-existant.
One in three people know someone affected by a brain tumour and brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer, yet historically just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease.Brain Tumour Research is determined to change this!Brain Tumour Research are the only national charity in the UK focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours through campaigning to increase the national investment in brain tumour research to £35 million per year, while fundraising to create a network of seven sustainable Brain Tumour Research Centres of Excellence across the UK.
