Story

What I'm doing

As many of you who know, I work for Mills & Reeve. Every year we put together a challenging, fund-raising event in aid of charities of our own choosing.

 This year we are walking the three Yorkshire peaks, which is a 24.5 mile walk consisting of three ascents of

Pen-y-ghent (694 metres - 2,276 feet);

Whernside (736 metres - 2,415 feet); and

Ingleborough (723 metres - 2,372 feet).

 Why I'm doing it

I recently found out that a close friend has been given the news that a family member is most likely suffering from MS. Before then, I knew very little about the disease but his words truly affected me and hopefully they will open your eyes like they did mine.

 'MS is such a terrible disease and often affects young women but a lot of people don't know much about it, me included. As it is a degenerative disease there is usually only one way it goes and that isn't upwards. It is life-changing and permanent and can be as much a mental challenge as is physical. If I was told at 21 that a high proportion of MS sufferers are in a wheelchair after 10-15 years, I don't know how I'd cope.'

 At the moment there is no known cure and therapies have only progressed as far as disease management. The MS Trust are not only conducting research into potential cures, but are also helping sufferers manage their disease on a day-to-day basis. Please give generously and help change people's lives.
