Every April I have watched in admiration as thousands of people take to London's roads to trudge the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon. In recent years my urge to strike a marathon off my 'to do list' has grown - this led me to enter my name into the 2019 London Marathon ballot. To my amazement/horror, I landed one of the 40,000 spots (a record 414,000 people entered).

Having done very little running over recent years, the fear has very quickly set in. Training has been tough but the miles are steadily starting to increase nicely.

I have decided to raise money for Advocacy Matters, which is a small charity based in Birmingham. Advocacy Matters support individuals with disabilities access information to help make decisions about their lives. Additionally, the charity helps individuals defend and promote their rights and interests. I have seen the work the charity does over a number of years and can think of no better charity to support, especially given that small charities often don't get the support they deserve. Every penny is greatly appreciated and will help the charity continue their great work for years to come!
