Story
My name is Tom, I am a 31 year old from Portsmouth, United Kingdom. As some of you may know back in April 2021 my wife (Vicki) was diagnosed with stage 4 Lymphoma and as you can imagine our lives were turned upside down overnight.
As part of her treatment she had to have 6 cycles of chemotherapy which consisted of intense chemo every two weeks for 6 months. She finished her 12th chemo in the middle of October.
We are still awaiting further news on how she is doing, however we remain positive and want to extend our thanks to the doctors and nurses at Queen Alexandra Portsmouth for all their love and support and the continued love we have been surrounded by from her family and friends.
Throughout the treatment as a loved one I have found myself asking lots of questions, the main one being why couldn't it have just been me. The feeling of being powerless is a truly disheartening feeling but one that thankfully has come to an end recently. So I am looking to do something to raise some awareness and money for the charity that helped us so vitally throughout - Lymphoma Action.
Some people call me mad but I am going to do 6 marathons on 6 consecutive days with the last one being the London marathon to represent the 6 cycles of chemotherapy Vics went through. I am looking to get as much help and support as possible, including holding a raffle in the Summer of 2022 to raise as many funds as I can for Lymphoma Action.
If there is anything you can possibly do to help me along with my fundraising it would be really appreciated and if you have any other way of sharing my story on social media it would help massively.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my message and if you are unable to help I appreciate it has been a hard few years for everyone and I wish you all the best for the future.
Tom
