Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Tom, and i was diagnosed with Addisons disease and Hashimoto's disease on the 14th June 2009. It has only been since Nov 2010, that i finally started to cope properly with it. I do have occasional blips, with my last crisis being on the stroke of New Year just gone, but i try not to let it discourage me from doing anything, or everything i can do to lead a normal life.
I have raised some money before, for the Endocrine Dept that look after me at The Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, just to say thank you for all the support they have given me over the last few years. My work partner and i wore shorts all over Christmas at work (We are postmen) and raised over £400 together from the general public in the village. After this, it then gave me the thought of doing something "More testing, and within my capabilities".
On the 11th June 2012, i will be walking around the Isle Of Wight......and then back again. I have fond memories of the island through family and holiday trips, so i thought it apt to enjoy the island whilst raising money for this good cause, to not only assist me, but others in my situation. Once i have finished plotting the walk, i expect to do roughly 70/75 miles round/150 max in total.... I will attempt to do it in 4 to 5 days each way.....give or take a few pit stops. The walk will be shown in progression through my facebook page, which will document my walk with daily info and pictures. I am hoping if this go's well, to then perhaps up the ante, and do something bigger in the future. You can monitor the walk for confirmation of progress, pictures, etc at the following link....www.facebook.com/groups/236715123096604/
Your support would be greatly apppreciated to help this worthy cause, and help provide more help for fellow Addisonions. I have pasted links to explain further about the disease below. Thank you for your support, and fingers crossed for my aim to be achieved or maybe even better.
