I'm excited to be running the London 10K next week for Action Tutoring! Most of the opportunities I've received in my life are due to great education, from my Mom homeschooling me so we could move to San Francisco, to university in Boston, to my masters in London. I feel strongly that everyone needs access to great education no matter their circumstances. Watching my partner Ilina work with Action Tutoring has inspired me to help raise funds for their crucial tuition programmes.
By donating to Action Tutoring, you are helping a young person build their subject knowledge, confidence and growth mindset, opening opportunities for them both academically and within the working world.Pre-pandemic, disadvantaged pupils were already, on average, 18 months behind their peers by the end of secondary school. The pandemic and subsequent school closures has pushed pupils from low-income backgrounds even further behind their peers, with evidence suggesting pupils living in 'persistent disadvantage' (i.e. on Free School Meals for more than 80% of their school life) are now more likely 22 months behind their peers, on average. Action Tutoring harness the power of volunteering to help pupils achieve, providing them with weekly one hour sessions with a brilliant maths or English volunteer tutor. This year they're aiming to support over 7,000 young people to recover their education, and I am fundraising for them to help them achieve this. Can you help me to help them?
