Story
We're taking on Pedal, Paddle, Peak, in support of Muscular Dystrophy UK because they need support now more than ever.
We will pedal 30 miles on an undulating route from Penrith alongside the Lake. Paddle 2 miles in a canoe on Ullswater Lake followed by trekking up and down Hellvelyn Mountain (the second highest peak)
Tom, Mike, Ben & Jez are being inspired by Tom's youngest son Harry who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Harry was diagnosed when he was 5 years old (he's now 12) Harry is doing really well for a boy living with Duchenne but devastatingly we know what the future holds, he will become a full time wheelchair user and then his upper body will begin to shut down due to this rare and painful condition leaving him locked inside his own body. As a muscular degenerative disease his heart will fail, almost certainly before he is 30. The most difficult part - there is no cure, it will happen and it is 100% fatal.
Muscular Dystrophy UK is the charity for the 70,000 children and adults living with muscle-wasting conditions in the UK. There's currently no cure, and it many cases, it limits lives. MDUK fund world-class research into treatments and cures as well as providing vital information, advice, resources and support for individuals and families living with these conditions.
So, we are back raising awareness and funds. If you've got this far then thank you for taking the time to read why this is so important to us.
All donations, big or small, are greatly appreciated. Thank you!
