Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 10th October (and Sunday the 11th) I will be attempting to run the Autumn 100 - a 100 mile ultramarathon run along the Thames Path and the Ridgeway, hopefully within the cut-off time of 28 hours.
Running 100 miles is not easy (see https://chasedbyabadger.wordpress.com/blog-feed/), there's plenty that can go wrong and therefore if you would like to sponsor me to attempt this race, please feel free to sponsor me now. If you would like to sponsor me for completing the race then please wait until Sunday 11th October!
I will be raising money for Feering Community Centre which serves to support our local community. Feering Community Centre is a great example of a small charity that has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic - it's lost a huge amount of regular income from bookings as well as not been able to run its main annual fundraising events, namely the May and Christmas Fayres.
I know first-hand the importance of fund-raising to keep the centre going as my wife Laura is the chair of the Community Centre. Laura works tirelessly year round on a volunteer basis to ensure the success of this community hub. These responsibilities have increased during the pandemic as Laura has fulfilled duties of normally paid staff who have had to be furloughed to conserve funds.
I'd be very grateful for any donation you can spare to sponsor me for the race and help support the Feering Community Centre. By doing so you will help ensure this Centre can remain open and support the numerous essential community organisations which meet there; including Good Companions (supporting elderly residents to reduce their loneliness and isolation), Feering Baby & Toddler Group (supporting parents and carers with young children), Feering Cinema Club, the WEA (adult learning courses), Feering Brownies, the WI and various exercise and fitness groups to mention just a few.
