Fundraising for Forces Children's Trust
Hello
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page, as most of you may well know I am the son of a father serving within the HM Forces. During my childhood he was away from time to time on operations. Whilst it was clear why he was going away and what it was for I always assumed he’d be back. Luckily, he always was, but for some Forces’ children this has not been the case. Although nothing can make up for the loss of a father or mother there is a glimmer of hope; comfort found within the charity Forces children’s trust. The charity was only founded in 2004 and has come on in leaps and bounds since then. Mr Denny Wise is the founder. Following the many heart-breaking stories that have emerged from the losses in Afghanistan and Iraq, Denny was concerned that the subsequent needs of the affected children, were not being fully addressed. He was particularly moved by the number of children who were left without a parent. Discussing the situation with his contacts, he decided that a charity solely dedicated to helping the individual needs and problems of the children would help fill a niche in the charitable field of family care. The Trust recognises that each child is special and unique, and should an individual require help not provided directly by the FCT, the Trust can assist where appropriate.
What has scared me the most is that there was nothing like this when I was growing up
On the 16th January 2011 I am running in the Run Rampage 2011 race. The race takes place on the Bagshott army vehicle testing ground. It may only be 10k but the course includes grade one and two listed hills, chest depth mud along with bogs, water courses and the occasional military wreck (Maybe this refers to my dad the old wreck I will be beating again!?!?). Please dig deep and aid me in helping some of the children, whose lives have been turned upside down by losing a loved one,
Thank you
Tom
A soldier's ultimate sacrifice, though made for his or her country, ultimately belongs to the soldier's loved ones. The Crown Foundation offered their support to the Forces Children's Trust a charity devoted to helping children in need whose father or mother has died, or has been seriously injured, whilst serving as a member of the British Armed Forces.
