Fundraising for Felix Fund - The Bomb Disposal Charity
We are attempting the Edinburgh Marathon on the 25th May! We will be running the 26.2 miles in aid of the Felix Fund. This is our first marathon and so any backing would be much appreciated! (or even any training tips!)
Everyday, bomb disposal experts risk their lives to prevent explosions that could kill or maim you or your loved ones. They do this in Afghanistan, Northern Ireland and all across mainland UK – more often than you would think. For instance, in Afghanistan EOD teams disarm as many as 40 lethal explosive devices a day. Any support would help the brave bomb disposal experts cope with the extreme pressures and distressing situations they so frequently endure.
Felix Fund supports any military personnel – serving or retired – who have conducted or assisted EOD duties, and their families. The charity helps both the physically and mentally injured, but also those facing different hardship. The charity’s current focus is funding therapeutic normalisation breaks to help bomb disposal teams readjust to life in the UK after serving in Afghanistan. In addition, the team are raising money for welfare and rehabilitation facilities, and building a hardship fund for all. This fund will of course support the trade’s many injured and bereaved, but also members of the wider ‘bomb disposal family’ who have otherwise fallen on hard times.
Thank you for any support you can give to us runners and most importantly to the Felix Fund!
