Story

·
Team members: We are a team of 4 friends from Twyford Prep school and we have a friend at school with a low grade brain tumour. We want to raise awareness of childhood brain tumours and some money. We are Alfie, Flora, Max and Poppy, AKA Toby's Tribe2!!!

Hi,

Thanks so much for visiting our page.

We are taking part in the Flight Centre Triathalon at Marlborough College on 19th May 2019 to raise as much money as we can for the Brain Tumour Charity's Everest Centre which has been set up to carry out much needed research to improve the understanding and treatment of low grade childhood Brain Tumours.

Globally over 26,870 children and young adults have a paediatric low grade brain tumour.  These tumours often cause severe long term health problems and can be fatal in some cases.  The treatment options are dangerous, toxic and life changing.

This research will allow scientists to accelerate the progress towards finding more effective treatments for the disease and could be revolutionary in improving the lives of children living with low grade tumours.

Our friend Toby, who is 11 years old, is in our year at school.

We all think Toby has shown incredible courage during his various treatments over the last 6 years and he never complains.  Like many children with a brain tumour, he faces his personal "Everest" everyday just trying to live the normal life of a young school boy.  He does a pretty good job at this.  He loves life.

We want to do this for him and all his family.

We will also be giving £200 to Restless Development who organise the Triathalon for everyone.

Their vision is that young people everywhere should be able to demand and deliver a just and sustainable world. In the past 30 years their network of young volunteers has grown to over 17,000 people worldwide. They have trained, inspired and helped more than seven million children, young people, and community members in Africa, South Asia and the UK.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.  Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails .  Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.  So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
