Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I'll be tackling the UK Ironman 70.3 on 20th June 2010 with the aim of raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

I'm raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support because of the support and help the gave to my mother in law. Last July, Barbara Mullarkey sadly lost her long battle with cancer but the care the Macmillan nurses were able to give to her and to her husband before her passing was invaluable.

The care, assistance and support the Macmillan nurses give improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical and financial support and push for better cancer care. To do this they need our support in terms of donations so they can continue this great work.

The UK Ironman 70.3 event takes place in Exmoor National Park around Wimbleball reservoir. It is a multisport event starting in the water at 7am for a 1.2 mile swim. This is followed by 56 miles on the bike over what is regarded as the toughest Ironman 70.3 bike course in the world. Finally, a half marathon 13.1 mile run on grass, gravel and dirt tracks to the finish line. All this has to be completed inside 9.5 hours. Seems simple really :-)
