We raise awareness/ offer support to improve the lives of PMP patients

Story

I have decided to run the London Marathon for PSEUDOMYXOMA SURVIVOR (PMP) because  it is time for some of "Little" charities to get exposure and much needed funds to help them carry of the good work that they do. Often, little charities get lost amongst the popularity of bigger charities and there is never any way of finding out what your money has been used for. By raising money for Pseudomyxoma Survior, we will know exactly where the money you have donated goes and the difference it has made. That in itself is a bonus. It is always nice to see how you have made a difference. I am excited that I have friends and  6 classes in my school, Broadmead Primary who are also excited to be involved. They are running/walking  the martathon distance over several weeks. Getting active has never been so much fun. Please support us all.

Another reason that I chose to raise money for Pseudomyxoma Survior  is because my pocket sized friend, was diagnosed with PMP sometime ago. (It is a rare form of cancer that is seldom spread through the blood stream, or lymphatic system. It is generally contained within the abdomen and spreads along inner surfaces.) She has just had surgery to remove any of the cancer that had been growing in her body. I am amazed at her courage, positivity and her strength especially after her MOAS (Mother of all Surgeries) As far as I know, this process included removing her gall bladder, appendix, spleen, ovaries and fallopian tubes, the right side of her bowel, the omentum (lining of the abdomen), and scraped this cancerous mucin (jelly-like substance) off the lining of the diaphragm and the liver. After all of that she had abdominal chemotherapy. If you ask me, that is one bad ass surgery! The  PSEUDOMYXOMA SURVIVOR Charity helped to support Jenny, other PMP suffers and their family and friends through their trying and difficult times. I am sure that with out them, these people would have not had some of the support they may have needed.

I will try and post updates as often as I can, especially closer to the big day, April 21, 2013. Thanks again for looking at my JustGiving page and for helping put Pseudomyxoma Survior on the map.

Lots of love and healthy wishes,

Julie
