Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our page.

Julie, Matthew, Charlotte, Jamie & Scarlett (Nicola & Laurence are finally on honeymoon!) are taking part in the Blackpool Colour Run to raise much needed funds for our wonderful local hospice, Trinity.

When our amazing husband/dad(dy)/Popa Pete became terminally ill with Pancreatic cancer, Trinity was there for him, and us, every step of the way.

Our team name comes, of course, from the Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear.  Peter used to shout ‘To Infinity … & Beyond!’ with a slight pause for Jamie & Scarlett to join in.  How blessed we were to be his family, he’d do anything for us!  Peter loved colour, so the Colour Run seems a very fitting fundraiser to do in his memory.

Trinity works within Blackpool Victoria hospital to provide support and ensure terminally ill patients’ needs are being met, and any hospital related concerns dealt with.

Once home you’re not abandoned, Trinity staff visit to gently advise patients and family as to what to expect as the illness progresses, and what can be done to help.  They provide a 24/7 helpline, where humans, not machines, deal with any problems or concerns that may arise - and they do arise!

Thankfully Peter was granted his last wish, to die in his own bed; however others are less fortunate, Trinity comes to the rescue again, providing a final safe haven.

This fantastic local service is run without government funding.

The Glenn/Harwood family would be very grateful for any sponsorship, no matter how small - it all adds up! We’d like to help Trinity support other devastated families the way they supported ours. Thank you.
