Story
Music Therapy in Nepal - A key to a better quality of life through the power of music.
Dr Margaret Lobo, FRSA MT, of the Otakar Kraus Music Trust UK set up The Music Therapy Trust Nepal (TMTTN) in 2010. Music Therapy is a scientifically proven method of helping people to communicate, as the ability to respond to music remains unimpaired by disability, injury, illness or trauma. In Nepal, we are helping hundreds of children and adults marginalised due to disability or poverty. Music therapy reaches people considered beyond hope, helping them to communicate, sometimes speaking for the first time; build relationships, gain confidence and improve the quality of their lives.
“There are no words to describe what music therapy did for my child.”(Mother of a child with autism)
Our trained therapists and volunteers are conducting individual and group sessions with children, adolescents and adults at Autism Care Nepal, SOS Children’s Village, Khagendra New Life Hostel, Om Disabled Centre, Voice of Children, Age Nepal,Special Education & Rehabilitation Centre,Kanti Children’s Hospital, and Amrita Service Holistic Centre.
TMTTN IS FULLY FUNDED BY DONATIONS.
