Story
1 in 8 children and adolescents have a diagnosable mental health problem. The numbers are soaring out of line with the resources available to support them. The majority of us have been affected or are likely to be affected by this issue, directly or indirectly.
Did you know that the average waiting time in the UK for a CAMHS referral is 9 weeks (63 days) and 2 weeks if urgent.*
We like many others feel that the wait is terrible and not acceptable for the younger generation in desperate need of help So in The North West Team we want to raise awareness and funds to help.
Each of us has committed to complete an activity of 63km or miles within 2 weeks. This will be a greater challenge to some than others :-) Your kind donations will go to Young Minds (charity) to support those desperately in need when the services that should be there are simply not able to cope.
So here's our commitment:
Peter Craven 63 Miles Cycle
Julie Brook 63 KM Cycle
Andy Chadbourne 63 KM Run
Fareeda Jalal 63 KM Run
Jane Nugent 63 Miles Spin Bike
Maria Heckel 63 KM Cycle/Walk
Damian Traynor 63 KM Run/Walk
Nathan Milnes 63 Miles Cycle
Fiona Bowyer 63 KM. Run
We are launching our activities from 8th October (world Mental Health Day) when Young Mind's will launch the #Hello Yellow initiative to raise awareness and funds across the country to support their services. We aim to complete these challenges within a two week time frame so please spur us on to reach our goals by donating NOW!
Young Minds is the UK's leading charity fighting for children and young people's mental health. Turning real life experiences into positive change, we are leading the fight for a future where all young minds are supported through life, whatever the challenges.
