Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I took up running in March 2019 in an attempt to lose some weight and improve my general health and fitness. While I started running for my physical health, an extra bonus has been the improvement to my general mood. As someone who has struggled with mental health issues for over 30 years, this has, perhaps, been the greatest benefit of taking up this simple, but (for me at least) highly effective activity.
At any time, one in six adults has a mental health condition and one in 100 has a severe mental illness. People with mental ill health die younger, and a greater proportion have poor physical health compared to the general population.
As a result of the restrictions put in place to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, many people are finding it even harder to cope.
With that in mind, during October, I'm running as many miles as I can to support SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) in order to raise as much money as possible and I would be so grateful if you could take the time to sponsor me to help a cause that is particularly important to me.
