Story
In 2020, Becca and I started doing couch to 5k to do something during lockdown and vowed to never do more than that. With encouragement from Ruth, who was already a running legend and training for her first marathon, we all ran a 10k in June of 2021. Both Becca and I were adamant that 10ks was it. In September 2021, Ruth smashed her first ever marathon in Brighton and Becca and I ran a half marathon. We said we would never run any further than that and Ruth said that she was not going to run a marathon in 2022 and had her sights on doing one in 2023. And now here we are… all three of us are now running the London Marathon in October (what?!)
Becca and Ruth got into the marathon through the ballot. It’s basically like winning a lottery but you get shin splints instead of cash. This also means they can run without raising money but have both kindly agreed to co-fundraise with me.
We are fundraising for the Guide Dogs and must raise £2000. It’s a great cause and any donation means a lot.
Every day, 250 more people join the 2 million already living with sight loss. This number is set to double by 2050, which is why our work is more important than ever before, however, we can only continue our life-changing work, such as our guide and buddy dog services, mobility training, education support, sighted guides and much more with your support.
Help us achieve our apparent dream of running a stupidly ridiculous distance! Thank you so much for all your help and support, it means a lot! xx
