20.11.17 update: Moira sadly passed away on the 12.11.17. She would be so very proud of the amount raised for The Brain Tumour Charity and astounded at how much she was loved and respected. As well as the amount raised via the JustGiving page of £4030.00 the Tinto community have raised a further £5,406 from the Twilight Walk and other donations. The community have also raised £1,458 towards a sundial to be erected in our new school grounds next year. Thank you all very, very much.

The school community of Tinto P.S & N.C were devastated to be informed that Moira Struthers, one of the school's P.T's, had been diagnosed with a brain tumour at the start of the summer holidays. Sadly the tumour has been deemed inoperable.

Moira Struthers has taught at Tinto Primary for fifteen years and has supported, motivated and enthused hundreds of children during that time. Moira is particularly enthusiastic when teaching maths and science and is highly skilled at building pupil confidence in these areas. Past and present pupils will tell you that you are not allowed to be "stuck" in Mrs Struther's classroom! Instead pupils are expected to work together to find a solution.

The school community want to mark Moira's contribution to Tinto Primary in a positive and fun way that she would enjoy. We are having our own Twilight Walk on the 29.10.17 from 4.00-6.00 p.m as part of the Brain Tumour Charity's WalkWithUs events. The children will dress in their Halloween costumes as we walk around Symington with our collection buckets. The walk will finish at the football club with games and food.

All donations will go to The Brain Tumour Charity to contribute towards ongoing research into early interventions and treatments and to support others suffering from brain tumours and their families.
