Story
Thank you for visiting my Just Giving page.
On Saturday 13th October 2018, I'm leading a fund raising guided walk for the Cavell Nurses Trust. The Trust provide financial support for nurses, midwives, student and retired nurses. It is named after Nurse Edith Cavell who was executed on 12th October 1915, for her role in assisting over 200 allied soldiers to escape occupied Belgium.
The walk is a short 45 minutes tour around the grounds of the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, where Edith trained and worked as a nurse. For the last couple of years I have been leading walks for the Trust. This year is particularly special to me as I've had some health problems and I have received some wonderful support from the nurses, so I hope I can raise some money as a thank you.
The walk details are:
DATE: Saturday 13th October 2018
TIME: 14:30
MEETING PLACE: The entrance to Whitechapel Tube Station
DURATION: 45 minutes
COST: £5 donation to the Cavell Nurses Trust either on my Just Giving page or payable on the day. If you are unable to attend but would like to donate that would be very much appreciated.
“Patriotism is not enough, I must have no hatred or bitterness to anyone.” is the famous quote from Edith which is on her memorial near Trafalgar Square.
On the morning of 12th October the annual wreath laying service will take place at her statue near Trafalgar Square. (Photo was taken at 2014 ceremony).
I hope you will be able to join this special anniversary walk in memory of Nurse Edith Cavell.
Thanks
Tina
