Story
I am running a fundraising day held in memory of 12 year old Erin Bates who sadly passed away on 15/07/14 after a year long battle with a brain tumour. This event was originally created in August 2013 and thanks to Erin and her family raised over £5000 for The Teenage Cancer Trust.
As part of Erins Legacy, her Marathon Match will now be run as an annual fundraiser with all money being donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust and The Great North Childrens Hospital Childrens Cancer Fund who provided Erin and her family with invaluable support during her illness.
The day will include:
- Family fun day with activities for children of all ages
- Fun round robin football games for boys and girls from U7-U16
- Raffle
- Auction
- Cake stalls
- Charity matches between Dads and coaches from Washington AFC and local clubs
- Charity match between coaches and Ex Pros
- BBQ
The marathon match is for anyone aged 16+ male or female, games will be played in 20 min blocks and anyone can turn up and play - a £5 'pay to play' donation is all we are asking. The aim is to keep the football matches going for 7 hours.
For young players we ask parents to make a £2 donation per child with ALL money donated to the charities.
Time slots as follows:
10-11am - U7, U8 and U9
11-12pm - U10, U11
12-1pm - U12, U13, U14, U15 and U16
1-3pm - Anyone aged 16+ (charity games above to be included here)
3.15- 4.15pm - a memorial game between Erins team; Washington AFC U12 wildcats and another local girls team
Followed by the raffle and auction and then a BBQ
Anyone who would like to play, volunteer, donate a prize or offer a service please get in touch with Tina 'Durham Fa' Reed Simon D Bates Gary Sykes Nathan Potts or Miranda Makepeace
We would love to see as many people there as possible to celebrate Erin's life and raise as much money as we can.
