Fundraising for Parkinson’s UK
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition - it causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. Around 145,000 people live with Parkinson’s in the UK and is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.
I have decided to enter the a Standard Distance Triathlon to raise money for Parkinson's UK. Yes, that means in May, I will have to plunge into a very cold lake (I had hoped we'd have had some sunshine by now to warm the lake because I hate cold water!) and swim 1500m before jumping on a bike to ride 40km and then run 10km - phew! Even just typing those distances makes me feel tired, I've never attempted this distance before.
My training plan is brutal and has really taken me out of my comfort zone. When I put my back out half way through my training I wasn't sure if I'd be able to compete, I couldn't even walk. But thankfully it has improved and I'm back in the saddle, literally!
I'm keenly aware of the current difficult economic circumstances but if you can find a spare pound to encourage me on my way, I would be immensely grateful.
