“Trip to Kenya with CWB”, 29 November 2011
We raise awareness of AIDS through cricket to strengthen communities and fight disease

Story

Hello Everyone

As you may, or may not know, I am travelling to Kenya in February to carry out voluntary charity work through the medium of cricket. (http://www.cricketwithoutboundaries.com). The charity uses cricket coaching skills and the enjoyment of taking part in the sport to highlight awareness of HIV/aids to children and teenagers who need it the most.

The goals of the charity are;

  • -To spread the enjoyment of cricket by coaching children and teaching adults how to coach;

  • -To highlight HIV/AIDS awareness and incorporate these messages into coaching sessions.

  • -To bring together and empower local communities through cricket. By teaching local adults and teenagers to become coaches and creating a successful infrastructure to continue to use the equipment in the future years.  22 million people are living with HIV in Sub Saharan Africa. This can be so easily rectified by teaching simple hygiene messages and encouraging regular check ups.

I still need to raise more money towards my target, every penny goes to the charity, so if you can spare any money, I would be truly grateful!

Donations made in this way will also be entitled to gift aid.

Thanks again.

 Tim.

p.s. I will be paying for my own flights, food, injections etc.

About the charity

Cricket Without Boundaries is dedicated to helping, educating and developing local communities around the world through the spread and growth of cricket. Crucially, CWB also uses cricket as a tool in the fight against AIDS. CWB’s training sessions have at their heart discussion about the disease in terms of prevention, treatment and equality of treatment for those with and without the disease.
