Story
It’s that time of year again I’m afraid, when I do a silly event and attempt to raise some money for a great cause so that it doesn’t seem like a complete waste of effort afterwards!
This year the event is the NORSEMAN which is an Ironman distance triathlon in the mountains of Norway on 4 August 2007. The race starts when a small number of people jump off a ferry at sunrise in the middle of a fjord. Following the chilly 3.8km swim to the shore, each competitor picks up their bike and embarks on a cheeky 180km cycle over the mountains. The final section of the race involves a marathon distance ‘stumble’ which starts at the base of a mountain and finishes at the top! I’m aiming to finish the whole lot in about 16 hours … if I survive the course! More info on the Norseman race can be found at: www.nxtri.com.
In the process, I am raising money for a brilliant organisation called MyBnk that has been set up by a very good friend of mine. MyBnk is a charity that works in deprived areas in London with young people in schools and in homeless shelters, increasing financial literacy and developing enterprise skills. MyBnk is helping young people to break the chains of debt and poverty and grow up believing in themselves and their own ideas. For further details of MyBnk’s fantastic work, please refer to: www.mybnk.org.
Thanks so much for your support as it really will help me to keep going through the long, hard stretches – and oh yeah, there will be lots of them!
