Story
I suffered from lymphoma B cancer in 2007. I was lucky and survived but I firmly believe that the measures I took by way of diet and exercise were instrumental in my recovery and provided a fully complementary and helpful addition to the conventional treatment I received in hospital. I didn't know about CancerWise at that time but, having now discovered them, I fully agree with their values and want to do as much as I can to support them in the service they offer to cancer patients.
CancerWise is a local, Chichester-based charity whose aim is to help patients suffering from cancer through diagnosis, treatment and beyond. Their services include providing information, emotional support, various therapies and practical lifestyle advice to cancer patients, families and carers in West Sussex and south-east Hampshire. It costs around £100,000 per year to provide their services, all of which has to be raised from voluntary fundraising, so relies on the support and generosity of the local community.
The Chichester Dragon Boat Challenge 2018 gives me an opportunity, with your help, to support CancerWise. Tim's Sunbeamers are a team of people who have joined with me to paddle a dragon boat in the Challenge to raise money to support the tremendous work done by the charity. At the same time, we'll have plenty of fun taking part in the racing which promises to be a very different sort of sailing for most of the team who are more used to racing Solent Sunbeams in Itchenor Harbour than paddling a dragon boat. The team are a great bunch of people and I would like to take this opportunity of publicly thanking them for their efforts. You can see all their names at the top of this page.
We hope you will be able to support us and thank you for your consideration.
