Story
London Ambulance Service staff and volunteers continue to care for Londoners, keeping us all safe during challenging times. This winter they have had little to no respite. I've worked as a paramedic with LAS for the last 4 years and due to the pandemic have been unable to visit my family in Australia (my first trip back was planned for early 2020). It has been a very difficult couple of years, seeing the pressure and stress and how it affects all of our staff. We have seen some of the most challenging things and had to make some of the most difficult decisions to try and help the people of London.
I am taking part in the Outrun an Ambulance challenge to help raise money that goes towards looking after the wellbeing of our staff. There has been a lot of staff burnout over the last couple of years and anything we can do to help protect and support our staff, and help them provide the best care for our patients, is important.
The average distance an ambulance covers in a shift is 31 miles (50km). In order to make the challenge fair, I am going to attempt to complete the entire during one run. I've never completed a run this far before but willing to give it a go. I plan to try and visit as many ambulance stations as I can around London during my run.
Please sponsor my Outrun an Ambulance challenge. Your donations will be used to provide enhanced facilities and wellbeing support for crew and personnel working and volunteering at the London Ambulance Service. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
