Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and I hope you might be able to support Samaritans by sponsoring me as I run the 2022 London Marathon.  I am doubly delighted as our sons Tom and Hamish are also running their first competitive marathons for this outstanding cause.  Any donation is simply wonderful.

We are all aware of the wonderful and vital work of Samaritans and the incredible support their volunteers give to so many people nationwide all hours of the day and night.  The past few years have put greater strains on so many people and your sponsorship will help keep the telephones and offices running so that there is always somewhere available to offer a listening ear and support - whoever, whenever, whatever.  Oxford Samaritans opened in 1963, and has around 170 active volunteers. They respond to around 2500 calls a month and also take part in Feet on the Street, an initiative that takes place in Oxford Cornmarket every other Friday night. The Oxford Branch has a range of outreach activities in schools, they train listeners in prisons, work with the local railway stations and support other local initiatives relating to mental health and suicide.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
