This year I am hoping to mark my retirement from teaching by going on a long bike ride with a bunch of mates. Although I see this more as a holiday than a challenge, it did seem like an opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

In 2003 my mother passed away and from that moment untill 2016 my father was cared for by my sisters Helen and Jane. I will never be able to find a way of expressing my thanks at a level which reflects the debt of gratitude I owe them, I can however attempt to raise some money for Dementia UK in recognition of them providing a loving, caring environment in which my father lived out the latter stages of his life.
