Story
At Easter 2019, out of the blue, my four year old Maisie was diagnosed with a sizeable brain tumour.
The amazing NHS superheroes at Addenbrooke’s operated on her a few days later. Maisie’s recovery surprised everyone and after stays in intensive care and on the ward she was home before we could ever have hoped.
Unfortunately the histology report found it was a grade three, rarest of the rare childhood tumour. There is no direct cure but if it returns it will be treatable. In the meanwhile Maisie’s life has returned to normal. She’s started school and we are grateful everyday to see her smiling face.
The survival rates for other cancers have greatly increased over the last 50 years while this can’t be said for brain tumours especially children’s. The ripple effects from child brain tumours are indescribable, and this is dwarfed by the effects on the child who’s life will never be same.
The Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre is dedicated to find an answer to improve the survival rates. This charity means the world to me so I would be incredibly grateful for a donation for an amazing group of people who are determined to make the world a better place.
