I am sleeping rough in a car park tonight on cardboard kindly provided by Asda.

Alongside me are some brave young souls from RootID, our youth group at Jubilee Church Derby, and my 9 year old daughter. About 40-50 people are sleeping out in total.

It is raining. You know the double raindrops on the forecast? That kind of rain. That makes it less pleasant but it isn't cold, not at all. Sleeping rough in actual winter means you never get warm.

Derby Churches Nightshelter exists to try to prevent people spending winter on the streets. It opens every night from December to March to provide a hot meal, time to chat, a place to sleep, support and breakfast too.  It makes a real difference in the city and is likely to be jam packed this winter.
