Story
This September myself and a team of friends will be shaving our heads to raise money for the amazing workers at Macmillan Cancer Support. Everyone in this world is or has been effected by this horrible disease and for those suffering I am sure they will agree when I say that the Macmillan workers go above and beyond for their patients.
I have had family members, friends and colleagues all affected by Cancer, and it is time to give back. Recently a very close friend of mine started their battle, just as lockdown rules were easing. The moment I found out I made the promise to them, that if their hair starts to go (common side effect from chemotherapy treatments) mine will go too.
Anyone who knows me, knows that this gesture is not a light one, having had dreadlocks for over 12 years, that at one point even reached down to my legs. Although this is quite a scary thought for me, with my hair being a big part of my lifestyle, it is a minor problem compared to what my friend and countless others are going through each day.
Fortunately, I will not be alone in this event, as several members of our friend group have signed up to take part in the shaving alongside me. I have also teamed up with Greene King pubs to help spread the word and raise and much as we possibly can!
Premium & Urban and Greene King are proud to have supported Macmillan since 2012 and helped to raise almost £9 million. We are fundraising throughout 2021 so that Macmillan can be there for people living with cancer and continue to provide physical, financial and emotional support for them and their families!
With help and support from all our friends and family, The Greene King Brewery, and anyone else who manages to see our fundraiser, we can get together as much money as we can to help those in need and aid Macmillan in their mission.
The shaving of the heads will take place at the end of September. We will keep you updated as people join our cause and go bald with us, and will mark any milestones we hit as people donate!
Big love to everyone, let’s smash this and help Macmillan support those who need it!
