Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
A few years ago, our good mate and fellow adventurer Dave was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).Over the years he has strived to live independently, evolving his living quarters as the disease has taken over his body. Always well spirited, he has taken everything thrown at him.
Now that he needs a little more care he has been taken in by St Gemma's Hospice, a Leeds based charity, where he receives top notch care. As you will imagine, this type of 24 hour support and specialist facility is expensive to offer.
2020 also marks a significant year for Sean Duffy and Tim Taylor with milestone birthdays. Sean turns 60 in January and Tim 40 in July.
Although regular runners, this challenge is no soft touch. The testing 104mile route will take in parts of the Lake District National Park, Howgill Hills and the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Daily mileage looks to be in the region of 22-32 miles per day (if we don't get lost), over wet and boggy tracks and trails with the odd bit of tarmac to join them together. It is likely to be snowy and freezing cold during the 1-4th February, the anticipated dates of the challenge.
The run will be generally unsupported, with the hope of free accommodation in Tebay, Hawes and Grassington TBC!
Whilst running an unsupported trail marathon everyday for 4 days, we'll be spurred on by the fact that we'll be raising a heap of money for an excellent charity and we'll also get to see Dave at the end.
The very minimum we hope to raise is on the 60:40 ratio. i.e. Sean raises £600(0) and Tim £400(0), but we hope that with your support we can do far more than this!
So please, forget the Birthday presents this time around and wack a few quid in the pot.
"Whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows." Michael Landon
