Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure.

I'm planning on running home from the Lake District. The idea formed about 8 years ago sitting in a traffic jam on the A65 after a weekend of rock climbing and walking in the Lakes. Someone shouted out "we could walk faster than this" and so it began...

I have something of a reputation for enjoying a challenge and this will be one for sure. They say everyone has a marathon in them, but what about 4 and a bit marathons in a row up and down the hills of the South Lakes and the Dales, over stiles and gates and quite possibly getting a bit lost. Honestly I don't know, but I plan on finding out.

I hope to raise some money for the Pilgrims Hospice who cared for my friend Ben Jackaman who passed away in 2017 following a short battle with a rare and untreatable cancer. This was shortly before he was due to be one of my "best men" at my wedding.

Ben's parents Sheena and Nick have set up a project with Pilgrims Hospice called the "blackbird project". The idea is recording and preserving the voice of those in their care to leave for their loved ones. The project is a really fitting tribute to Ben who was a musician and fan of the Beatles. Their track Blackbird on the White Album is a classic. You can read more about the project here: https://www.pilgrimshospices.org/news/blackbird-project-pilgrims-hospices/

Any and all support is very welcome! Thanks for reading.
