On 9 September 2017 I will be attempting the coast to coast cycle ride for charity hopefully on a better bike than the picture! ( the Giant Road E2 )
Nothing special about that !
Other than the fact I have stage IV lung cancer caused by asbestos ( inhaled 40 years ago ) and I will be cycling with a core rider from several previous cycle slams

...And I will beat him up the hills !
Game on Kev !
My disease is called Mesothelioma it is terminal in my case it has destroyed one lung and the chemotherapy has serious damaged the muscles in my legs , made my feet numb and my hands very insensitive and clumsy. ( hence I'm registered disabled)
At this point you might think I'm feeling sorry for myself! NO far from it ! the chemo and excellent care I've had has kept me alive way beyond the 3 months I was given in 2015. I thought I would have to learn how to die with dignity, but the amazing thing with a terminal disease is you learn to live with your cancer. And I really mean live.
So my ride is to stop people with terminal cancer from thinking their life is over. Don't fear Cancer - kick it in the nuts -
I've had to accept I can no longer ride my racer and I look pretty scrawny now ! but I CAN ride an electric bike.
And there are so many cancer SURVIVORS with muscle waste like me , who might not realise they can cycle with a little electric help !
So I want to
1 Raise money for Mesothelioma UK and
The Mavis Nye foundation
2 Raise awareness of the dangers your kids face in our schools ( ask your school about asbestos )
3 Show cancer survivors they can still cycle with their mates !
4 Engage the Media to cover my story and get as wide a coverage as possible therefore 10 x £10.00 gifts would engage more people than 5 x £100.00 gifts
So please don't hold back on a small donation, though big ones are great too ! What's most important is to re-share with your network
See my bike history!
