Hello everybody,
Thankyou so much to everyone who has contributed so far to such a worthwhile cause.
Robin Salt has very kindly offered to ferry me, the bike and bags to Cornwall. We set off South on Saturday 13th of July and I start from Lands End on Monday 15th. I will be cycling with all the camping gear and hope to be hitting Wigan around the 22nd. I will need to take a few days off at this point to honour prior commitments and then hit the road again for John O Groats. I hope to cover the nine hundred and odd miles in 14 cycling days (and if I'm feeling daft enough I might cycle back South to round it up to 1000 miles ). For the Northen section I will have a support car (very kindly offered by my brother Matt) which means I can take the luggage off the bike and increase the daily mileage making quicker progress.
I will try and keep you all posted but for those that know me and computers... nuff said!
August 2013
Well folks I did it topping out in 13 days of cycling (12 and a half days really). The Garmin satnav recorded 930 miles for the journey and I finished on the last day of July. The Southern section from Lands end to Wigan was tough because of the endless hills (including Dartmoor), record temperatures and a very heavy bike with all the bags on. I made better time on the longer Northern leg of the journey;
Day 1: Lands End to Fowey (65.6 miles)
Day 2: Fowey to Moretonhampstead (62.3 miles)
Day 3: Moretonhampstead to West Huntspill (69.1 miles)
Day 4: West Huntspill to Monmouth (63.8 miles)
Day 5: Monmouth to Ludlow (46.9 miles)
Day 6: Ludlow to Tarporley (69.5 miles)
Day 7: Tarporley to Wigan (42 miles; only half a days riding)
Day 8: Wigan to Blackford (116 miles)
Day 9: Blackford to Strathaven (85.2 miles)
Day 10: Strathaven to to Ardlui (63.1 miles)
Day 11: Ardlui to Stronaba (71.8 miles)
Day 12: Stronaba to Dalchalm (112 miles)
Day 13: Dalchalm to John O' Groats (62.3 miles)
Its been quite an experience and thoroughly worthwhile thanks to your support and contributions and very generous donations to the charity. I am still recieving cash donations so when all that is accounted for I will let you all know how much you have all raised (I wonder if it will reach £930 because that would mean I would have cycled a mile for every pound donated..that would be great..we'll see.

Well all the money is now in and the total amount you have all raised between you for a very worthy cause is £1074.13 which means you raised £1.15 for each and every mile I cycled.
Thankyou so much everybody. Lets hope that we have all been instrumental in some small way to improved care & treatment for the many many people who suffer from the debilitating effects of Crohns and Colitis,
Thanks again, Tim
