Story
3 years later than planned, I'm running my first ever marathon in April 2023 for a brilliant cause which is very close to my heart. I really hope you'll consider donating.
Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer by matching them with stem cell donors.
I know this first-hand, having signed up to the stem cell register at university in 2012. A few years later, I got a phone call out of the blue from Anthony Nolan saying I might be a match for a child with a life-threatening disorder. After several medical checks, and a lot of reassurance about the painless procedure involved, the match was confirmed and I had an operation to extract bone marrow from my hips which went straight to that child to give him a second chance in life.
Anthony Nolan really does save lives.
After failing to run the London Marathon as planned in 2020 (pandemic) and 2022 (injury), I'm hoping it's third time lucky in 2023. I've run a few half marathons in recent years, but I'm finally stepping up to the full distance. Having grown up round the corner from where the London marathon starts in Greenwich, I'm so excited to have the chance to finally be a part of it, and for such a brilliant cause.
