Story
On Wednesday 2nd October 2019 a group of Friends and Friends yet to be made are setting off from Padstow (North Cornwall) to cycle 300 miles to Naunts in France hoping to arrive on Saturday. During this time we will have cycled equivalent in altitude to the peak of Mount Picchu Picchu in Peru, which stands, and an impressive 18,342 Ft, and quite frankly I did not think this through when I signed up...
Why... The charity weare supporting is Mount Edgecombe Hospice one of only 2 such places in Cornwall that care for terminally Ill people.
During the last 3 years we have had 2 friends who have passed away at the Hospice. Pat Wheeler who was the wife of Keith and mother to Emma, both are doing the ride to raise monies in memory of her. She passed away in April 2017 after a very short illness. Also our very close family friend Venita Lilly, who also passed away at the Hospice after a very short and sudden illness.
The Hospice provides palliative care making people feel safe and cared for and providing facilities for family members to be with loved ones at what must be a very difficult and upsetting time.
Having spoken to many people about the challenge most have known someone who has benefited form the Hospice making it a vital resource for the people of Cornwall. The Hospice receives only 20% of its funding through the NHS the rest is raised by events like this across Cornwall and beyond.
So please if you would like to sponsor me what ever you can I would be most grateful and please share this page.
Thank
you, Tim
