Story

This year in 2023, the Salvation Army preschool at Leigh on Sea celebrates 50 years of working with families in the local community. In 2023 due to the cost-of-living crisis, The Salvation Army at Leigh on Sea has identified an ever-increasing need within the local community to provide a breakfast and after-school club to support families in the local area. In recent research carried out by us, we have identified that several schools in the area have a long waiting list and cannot take any more children due to the demand for this provision. So, children cannot attend these events; parents are being forced back to work but cannot go back due to childcare shortages in the local community; our preschool manager sent out a Facebook post, and within 24 hours, over 100 parents came forward and asked how they could sign their children up for this provision.
