***BAD NEWS***
I have Covid-19 and have had to withdraw from the London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October. . So disappointed...
I am working with the team at Parkinson’s UK to find a new marathon place next year. Thank you to all our supporters for all your kind messages and donations. I will deliver a marathon and will not let you down. Tim
What started as a personal goal in 2019 with friends to take on a first half marathon, at 48, has evolved quickly into a three step challenge to raise funds for Parkinson's UK (PUK) and the South London Young Parkinson's Network (SLYPN.)
I'm taking on the:
London Duathlon 8th September 2019 - 10k run, 44k ride, 5k run. Target: sub 3 hours. Time: 2h 59m 44s!!!
Vitality Half Marathon 1st March 2020. Target: sub 2 hours. Time: 1hr 59m 03s!!!
London Marathon. ***Postponed due to covid***. Target: sub 5 hours. Time: TBC
South London Young Parkinson's Network (https://slypn.org.uk) are part of Parkinson's UK. They are a peer support and fundraising network. One of our close friends, Sarah Webb, is a co-founder and they have raised almost £200,000 since her diagnosis in 2011. Read her story here: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3979692/When-right-time-tell-children-life-changing-disease-Sarah-Parkinson-s-suffers-terrible-tremors-intense-fatigue-keeps-smile-face-two-boys.html
Sarah has been able to ensure that donations made through this page will be passed directly to Dr Heather Mortiboys' Research Project at Sheffield University via PUK and the Virtual Biotech Programme, the drug development arm of PUK, looking for new treatments to slow or stop the progression of PD: https://www.wherewomenwork.com/Career/2162/University-of-Sheffield-Dr-Heather-Mortiboys-Parkinsons-research
I know that I cannot contribute to every charity page I'm sent, and I understand that not everyone who would wish to donate is able to do so. So thank you for reading this far, and if you can find a way to make a donation, of ANY size, it would be hugely appreciated.. Or please forward this page to anyone who might wish to support this superb organisation and essential research.
