Story

Okay, so I've done the run.  I optimistically positioned myself just ahead of the 1:50 pace runner at the start, right next to some bloke dressed as Sonic the Hedgehog.  Well, Sonic went off at a hell of a lick.  Guess that's being a video character is all about.  "See you at mile 3", I thought.  It was a warm day, not ideal weather for hedgehogs.

I managed to stay ahead of the pace person till mile 10 when she (alas) shot past me with rather a large bunch of guys who it would appear had been running just behind her.  Slightly depressing being overtaken by fifty people at once.  Now I know what that tubby bloke at school felt like.  I guess I must have slowed condiserably because they disappeared out of slight rather quickly.

For the rest of the race it was just a battle to keep on running.  A lot of people were walking and I so much wanted to join them.  A few Percy Pigs from the M+S folks helped to keep me going.  Not a good idea to keep them in your hand too long I discovered.  At least there was the occasional water station I could use to try and remove the sticky goo from my mits.  Although attempting to wash your hands doesn't look quite as professional as pouring the bottle of water over your head.  But maybe they'd just got Percy Pigs stuck to their face - can be tricky to put things in your mouth after 10 miles of slog.

Anyway, if you've bothered to read to the end of this, you'll be wondering what time I did, and at what point I passed a blue hedgehog lying at the side of road.  Well my kids gleefully informed me that Sonic finsihed some 10  minutes before me but I was rather pleased to stagger across the line at 1:54:37, exactly 4.5 mins faster than last year.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the CF Trust.
