We aim to find a cure for GBM brain tumours to stop GBM killing 5,000 adults per year

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for Headcase Cancer Trust.

Along with nine other intrepid cyclists I am taking part in the inaugural Headcase Pedal the Pyrénées bike ride in October. This will involve cycling the entire range of the Pyrenees, from Biarritz on the Atlantic coast to the Mediterranean port of Collioure, in just seven days.

It's 500 miles long and involves cycling up (and down) ten of the longest and hardest climbs anywhere. These climbs feature regularly in the Tour de France and even the pros don't ride them for seven days on the trot!

This is a massive physical and mental challenge for a bunch of amateur cyclists as we will be riding uphill, for up to two hours at a time, at least twice each day. Overall, we shall be ascending the height of Everest and a half!

I'm funding the ride myself so 100% of your donation will go directly to Headcase.

Headcase itself raises money for research into the most common form of adult primary brain tumour - a Glioblastoma Multiforme, or GBM for short.

My pal and fellow rider Colin Speirs lost his wife Becky to a GBM in July 2010. Becky was only 40.

Colin set up Headcase in the hope that we can find a cure for this currently incurable disease. Find out more about Headcase.

Your support will go a long way towards finding this cure, and even further in motivating me to complete this epic ride. Thank you!
