Story
We have been rowing for years and are long-time members of Broadland Boat Club at Thorpe St Andrew in Norwich.
This year, when we were in Cornwall at Easter, we decided to try our hand at sea kayaking, and we loved it! So we decided to take up a challenge and to sign up to Regatta London in sea kayaks and do the watery equivalent of the London Marathon!
We’ve often rowed and raced on the upper reaches of the
Thames, but we couldn’t resist the adventure of sea kayaking this spectacular course through central London! We’ve spent a long time training and practicing our technique on the River Yare. And as we go we often pick litter out of the river. Our haul includes numerous plastic bottles, crisp packets and a 3ft-high traffic cone, all collected into a laundry basket strapped to the front deck!
We spend a lot of time on the water, so we chose to sign up and fundraise for Thames21 to support their amazing work cleaning up and restoring rivers.
Support our marathon paddle through central London and help us to help Thames21 bring London’s rivers back to life!
